Treat this animal with the respect it deserves. Keep the deer cool, clean, and covered. We reserve the right to refuse any deer on the basis of quality. Field dress the deer as follows:

  • Cut around the rectum to free it and the bladder
  • Remove the paunch, intestines, bladder and rectum
  • Split rounds at seam to pelvis. Split bone if possible. Be careful not to jab into the rounds
  • Watch for the tenderloins
  • Cut around the diaphragm to remove the lungs, heart, and esophagus
  • Remove udder on female deer
  • Rinse with cold water
  • If it is gut shot, definitely rinse with cold water
  • Pack with ice (chest and rounds) and wrap deer to protect it from flies and debris

IMPORTANT NOTE: State Tag must be provided when dropping off whole deer or boneless meat for processing.
